'Ya Can't Stay Just Once'
selected as winning slogan

By Beach News Staff
HAMPTON BEACH - The annual Hampton Beach Children's Festival - five full days of great fun for kids - wrapped up on Friday, August 20 with a mammoth costume parade.
Many longtime residents commented that they thought it was the largest Children's Festival parade that has ever been held. Every child who participated in the event won a prize just for entering.
The highlight of an awards ceremony held after the parade was the presentation of a beautiful new mountain bike. The bright yellow bicycle was won by ten-year-old Gwendolyn Wisz of Garfield, New Jersey, for her entry in the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Slogan Contest, sponsored by Connelly Communications.
With a huge crowd looking on (and Ted the Cat standing close by) Atlantic News/ Beach News Publisher Mike Connelly presented the bike to Gwendolyn, who looked very tropical in a colorful swimsuit, grass skirt and flower lei.
Selected from a total of 160 entries and featuring a beach scene, Gwendolyn's winning slogan reads "Hampton Beach - Ya Can't Stay Just Once." Her artwork will be captured on bumper stickers that will be distributed by the Chamber.
Rounding out the top contest entries were "Wave If You Love Hampton Beach," "Hampton Beach Sunshine in Your Heart," and "Hampton Beach - The Time Goes Fast but the Memories Last."
